Living Healthy and Keeping the Weight Off… with Some Help
If you have already had weight loss surgery, you have taken an exciting and life-changing step on the road to better health and a slimmer physique. Patients know that fighting morbid obesity with surgical weight loss treatment involves many changes to their diet and lifestyle habits in order for bariatric surgery procedures to work as effectively as possible, and that significant results often appear within the first year after treatment. But what about the years that follow? Dr. Stephen Boyce places great emphasis on offering comprehensive weight loss treatment that includes follow-up care and a support network to help patients lose weight safely and successfully in the months after weight loss surgery. Now, he is beginning a unique service to patients that can help them further into the future. With Life Strategies Coach David Johnson, a Certified Life Coach, you can achieve a more holistic post-surgery lifestyle regimen which aims to help you control your diet, live healthy, keep the weight off, deal with common problems, and feel great.

A year after weight loss surgery, patients are armed with the tools they need to successfully keep the weight off. However, there is often a fear that develops by this time that all of the progress they have made is in danger of slipping away once the weight loss stabilizes or begins to fluctuate. Think of it like the game of tennis: professional tennis players are not born with success – they become successful through training, experience, and guidance… they need a coach. Similarly, successful weight loss and the ability to deal with an array of issues that may come up long after bariatric surgery can be helped with a coach, someone who can offer you ways to navigate problems that may be affecting your progress and talk with you about ways to deal with them.
Our bariatric surgery patients know that there are many options available to them during the treatment and recovery process to help them make necessary changes and utilize weight loss surgery as a tool to achieve a healthier lifestyle. What the Life Strategies program is designed to do is help patients maintain their confidence and their weight loss long after the first year following surgery. The program is offered to patients who are one year out of surgery, and aims to offer them a support system by meeting with other patients and talking about issues affecting their progress. Each meeting is conducted by Life Strategies Coach David Johnson. Individual sessions with David will also be available.
The Life Strategies sessions will typically be conducted in a classroom-like setting once a week and will include a lecture topic and a discussion topic, plus visual and written exercises.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
